What is FemTech, and Why Does the Arab World Need It Now?

You’ve probably heard the term “FemTech”, but what does it really mean?

Coined in 2016, FemTech refers to technology designed to support women’s health, including reproductive health, menstruation, fertility, maternal health, menopause, and chronic illnesses that disproportionately affect women. It includes apps, wearables, diagnostics, medical devices, telehealth services, and even biotech.

The global FemTech market is projected to surpass $100 billion by 2030. But where is the Arab world in all this?

While the region is slowly catching up, there are still major gaps. Most FemTech solutions available today are developed in Europe or the U.S., without consideration for local culture, language, climate, or regulation. Arab women deserve tools that meet our specific needs, and that’s exactly why femMENA was born.

We’re creating a launchpad for female innovators to build regionally relevant FemTech products and bring their research, ideas, and startups to life. Whether you're in health, design, data science, or policy. If you're passionate about women's health, there's space for you here.

The Arab world doesn’t just need FemTech, we need FemTech by Arab women.
